British Buttner Pipe Reamer
The Buttner pipe reamer was the ultimate pipe smokers tool. The reamer is designed to scrape the carbon from the bowl of the pipe. The tool is about one and a half inches in length and small enough to be kept in any pocket or tobacco pouch. The reamer is designed to remove “cake”. Cake is the carbon build up that occurs in the chamber of tobacco pipes over time from smoking. The blades of the reamer are ground differently which means when you turn the tool clockwise it cuts the cake, while if you turn it anticlockwise it smooth’s and polishes.
The Buttner reamer was last produced in about 1940.
